Having women in elected positions at all levels of government leads to a balanced approach to governance.

The SheCan campaign strives to increase women's representation in political leadership at all levels of government across the NWT by:

• raising awareness of what leadership looks like,
• highlighting the importance of taking the first steps to pursue leadership opportunities, and
• providing information to those who want to learn about running for office at any level of government.

Prominent women in the NWT were selected as role models to address some of the barriers women may face when it comes to political opportunities, to inspire confidence in women, and to address biases voters may have about female leaders.
